After performing in hallmark black clubs such   as the Apollo in Harlem and the Regal in Chicago, Flip Wilson   made a successful appearance on the Ed Sullivan Show. Recommended by Redd Foxx, he also performed on The Tonight Show to great accolades and become a substitute host. Flip was also a regular act at New York City’s Apollo Theater.
